What is a Podiatrist?

Doctors of podiatric medicine are podiatric physicians and surgeons, also known as podiatrists, qualified by their education, training, and experience to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg.
Doctors of podiatric medicine receive medical education and training comparable to medical doctors, including four years of undergraduate education, four years of graduate education at one of nine podiatric medical colleges, and two or three years of hospital-based post-graduate residency training.

Dr. Molly S. Judge

She has served as a board-certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery Director Publications and Research, Kaiser Permanente - Cleveland Clinic Foundation Podiatric Residency Program Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Judge received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Cincinnati in 1985. She completed her academic and clinical instruction through Hill Crest Hospital Institute for Nuclear Medicine Technology in Cleveland, Ohio where she became certified in Nuclear Medicine and later became a board-certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

She worked at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation both in clinical nuclear medicine imaging and research in renovascular hypertension and nephrology under the direction of Dr. Joseph Nally. She then went on to receive her Doctorate at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine from 2009 to 2011 where she graduated with distinctive honors such as the Wally Wiseman Award for surgical excellence.
She was the 1st female in Ohio to be accepted into and complete a 3-year fellowship in major reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. This surgical residency was completed under the auspices of Dr. Gerard V. Yu in 1997 while at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. With Dr. Yu, she has contributed a number of articles and research projects to medical literature.
She has since become board certified in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (APBS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS). She holds a faculty position at Mercy Hospital Health Systems in Toledo, Ohio where she participates in lecturing to both the medical staff and residents and interns in all facets of medicine. Her emphasis over the years has been in the direction of academics, research, and lecturing throughout the USA.

Dr. Judge has published several articles and contributed to many books throughout the course of her career. She has 20 published works and numerous articles in preparation. She has contributed to the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (JFAS) in peer-review since 2001 and has most recently been elected to serve as the Section Editor in Fore Foot Reconstructive Surgery for JFAS. Additionally, she serves as a contributing editor to the Journal of the American Podiatric and Medical Association (JAPMA).

    In recognition of her academic contributions via both continuing medical education reviews and feature articles, she has been elected to serve on the advisory board for the periodicals such as Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Podiatry Today for which she has been a contributing editor for a number of years. She is a regular columnist for Healthy Living News, (editor LeMoyne Mercer, PhD), a publication distributed widely throughout northwest Ohio. In addition, she is a principal author of the chapter on Chronic Ankle Conditions in McGlamry's Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery, third edition, Complications in Hallux Abducto Valgus Surgery and Os Trigonum Surgery in McGlamry’s Textbook on Surgical Techniques, first edition and Utility of Nuclear Medicine Imaging in the Diabetic Foot in Surgical Reconstruction of the Diabetic Foot and Ankle, 2009.
    As an innovator in her field, Dr. Judge has received many honors and awards. Among them are: The William J. Stickle Gold Award for Research awarded by The Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, The Wally Wiseman Award for Surgical Excellence and the National Collegiate Student Government Award granted by the president of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Judge was listed in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges for three consecutive years, 1991-1993.
    An active participant in the medical community, Dr. Judge has been a member of the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association since 1990 and served as president of the Northwest Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine (NWOAPM) from 2000-2018. She has been the scientific chair of the NWOAPM Annual Scientific Seminar since its inception in 2000. As an athletic enthusiast, she also serves as the official foot and ankle physician for the Jamie Farr-Owens Corning Classic LPGA Golf Tournament. She had served 13 years as the Director of Clerkship Programs for the St. Vincent Charity Hospital Podiatric Residency under the auspices of Dr. Gerard V. Yu (previously Mt. Sinai Medical Center Podiatric Residency).
